Under the theme Build for the Students, participants will create solutions that tackle real challenges in student life—from academic aids 📚 to wellness resources 💆. Open to students from all universities, this hackathon is a chance to connect, collaborate 🤝, and innovate in a supportive space.

Note: you must apply to be accepted, this event is excusive capped due to demand (capped at 70 IRL).
🪄How will it work
Team up or build alone to leverage one of the health topic areas and build an AI solution to it! Bonus points if you build with a sponsor.
This event is both IRL in Sydney (Euc offices) and online virtual.
NOTE: this event is IRL in Sydney, we are also holding a virtual stream on Gathertown and Slack. Virtual submissions are due at 12pm PT and will be assessed separately offline (still eligible for bounty prizes).

Strong Compute Chess Hackathon
Spend 2 days training AI Chess bots on GPUs in SF or Sydney ✨🚀.
Mega Chess Hackathon Overview:
Get hands-on with rapid neural network training using Strong Compute’s Instant SuperComputer (ISC) in our Mega Chess Hackathon!
Compete over two days to build the best chess-playing AI with access to 48 GPU clusters and explore models, datasets, and hyperparameters.
Details:
Prize: $10k-$100k compute grant for open-source AI research.
Challenge: Train a deep neural network to evaluate chess moves based on game history and board states.
Resources: StockFish-evaluated board states, historic game PGNs, and code examples.
Compute: Dedicated GPU access via the ISC platform.
Judging: Tournament-style model face-off.
Accepted participants will get the full task, dataset, and model specifics a week before. Register today to get a head start!
Participant Requirements:
Experience with PyTorch and cluster training is preferred but not mandatory.
Skills in large-scale clusters (64+ GPUs) are highly valued.
Teams of 1 to 3 members are allowed. Include your team members’ names when registering. Approved participants will receive a link to our Discord competition channel.
